Singapore is one of the best place in the world to practice swimming!

You may have learnt swimming at school 10, 20 or even 40 years ago. Well, it is never too late to learn again and you will be amazed to see how only a few swimming lessons will make a difference on your stroke. You can also learn a new stroke such as front crawl and you are likely to find that it is easier than it looked at first. And if you think that swimming is boring, be ready to change your mind.

According to the U.S. Water Fitness Association (USWFA), swimming provides individuals with several physical, social and mental benefits. Some of them include improved strength and flexibility, enhanced muscular stamina and balance, a stronger heart, and better physique or figure. Apart from this, swimming also works as a fast and effective remedy for healing muscles. Swimming also helps in weight control and can relieve your mind from stress and tension, fuelling your energy level to a large extent. This is will keep you in perfect shape, physically as well as mentally. Swimming can be very beneficial to your heart, lungs, and muscles. Regular swimming builds up muscle strength and stamina, and also improves posture and flexibility.

Who can participate?

Virtually everybody.  In some cases e.g. back pain, you may want to check with your doctor or physio.if any stroke(s) and or movements are contra-indicated.

How is a typical lesson structured?

We divide a stroke into many “small pieces”, covering body position, legs & arms movement. When the above is mastered we go through the breathing and timing of the stroke and make some fine-tuning. A typical lesson lasts 30 to 45 minutes (depending on your level and learning style). After warming up, we will go through the main theme of the lesson through a few drills e.g. breast-stroke arm pull. We also introduce a contrasting activity to work on a more specific drill. Finally we will end the lesson by “putting everything together”. We use various type of flotation equipment/ training aids such as noodles, kick board and pull buoys.

When/ where are classes held?

Classes are held weekdays at your condo at a mutually convenient time.
